THE REIKI SYMBOLS ARE TRAINING TOOLS
These help you learn how to connect with energy!
In this article I’ll show you how to draw the Reiki symbols step by step. And I’ll share some important tips to help you get the most out this spiritual practice. The Reiki symbols are training tools which are used in the practice of Reiki. These training tools are used to help beginners learn how to activate energy to use for healing and channelling. When the Reiki symbols are activated, the flow of healing energy starts automatically.
In this article I’ll explain the simple process for how to draw reiki symbols step by step and activate this energy.
HOW TO DRAW REIKI SYMBOLS STEP BY STEP
Every Reiki symbol has a different purpose!
Different Reiki symbols activate different frequencies of energy. Therefore when you want to channel the energy of the Reiki symbols, all you need do is intend to use the symbol. And there are a number of ways you can do that.
- With your finger, two fingers or all your fingers to draw them in the air in front of you
- Use your palm to draw the symbols on each of your hands
- Draw or visualize the complete symbol in your head
- Appearing in front of you
- Or draw or visualize the symbol over a certain part of the body
How you activate each symbol is not so important. Because it’s simply your intention to activate it that starts the flow of energy associated with that symbol.
THE REIKI SYMBOLS MANTRA
Why do we say the symbol's name three time?
When you visualize each Reiki symbol, it’s tradition to say its sacred mantra three times when you draw it. You can either do this out loud or silently within your head.
The reason it’s done three times is because the number three is commonly held to be sacred. Most religious orders and spiritual groups put great importance on the number 3. As this relates to the Holy Trinity, also known as The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit in Christianity. This Holy Trinity represents the three main stages Consciousness expands to. Those being Christ Consciousness, Cosmic Consciousness, and God Consciousness.
However there’s really no limit to how many times you can repeat a sacred mantra.
So no matter how you choose to activate the Reiki symbols, the symbols themselves have no power. The Reiki symbols are only keys to help you understand how to connect with Source Energy.
And don’t worry about drawing the Reiki symbols perfectly every time. Reiki symbols still work in the same way if you draw or visualize them incorrectly. The Source will still understand your intention to connect with that specific vibration of energy. And It will deliver that energy through you.
So here’s how to draw reiki symbols step by step for each of the Usui Reiki levels.

THE REIKI SYMBOLS ARE NOT SACRED
Although this is commonly taught in many Reiki practices!
That’s how to draw the Reiki symbols step by step. Pretty simple. However there is one important point to keep in mind. It’s important to realize that the Reiki symbols are not sacred!
It’s commonly taught in many Reiki practices that the Reiki symbols are sacred and that they should be held in high regard. However there are three important reasons why you should not set your mind on this belief.
#1 ~ In advanced Reiki, there will come a time in your practice when you will no longer use symbols because there will be no need to. The Reiki symbols are simply a training tool to help you learn how to connect with the energy of each symbol. Once you have learned how to ‘feel’ Reiki as you are channelling, there is no need to use any of the Reiki symbols. You can simply channel Reiki energy using intention. This intention would be to ‘ask The Source to heal in accordance with Its Will’, not yours. This ensured the most powerful healing is given.
#2 ~ In advanced Reiki there comes a point when using the Reiki symbols is a disadvantage. When you are able to connect with The Source from your Spiritual Heart and use the power of your heart to channel Reiki as an instrument of The Source, this is the most powerful form of healing. When you use your Spiritual Heart to heal your Reiki healing sessions are at their most powerful. This is because you are intending to channel the Will of The Source, as you should always do when healing for improved spiritual growth and healing. When you visualize a Reiki symbol however, you are using the energy of your mind, and not your Spiritual Heart. And your mind has limitations. Whereas your Spiritual Heart is boundless and limitless in it’s power and capability as it’s this part of you that connects directly with The Source.
#3 ~ Another very important reason why the Reiki symbols should not be seen to be sacred is because of how you attach your energy to the symbols. When you hold a drawing of a Reiki symbol in high regard and believe this to be sacred and special, your mind, heart and energy flow towards that symbol. By doing this, you establish an energetic connection with that symbol in such a way that it is considered to be an attachment. The energy of your Spiritual Heart should be open to the sacredness of The Source. You should not focus the energy of your mind and Heart on the symbols. This will only serve to limit your progress as your heart should be connected to The Source. Not attached to the Reiki symbols.
